14/07 - MAR left reeling after shock defection of their championship leading rider
In a moment of sheer devastation, Malcolm Ashley and the team were told by a third party this afternoon that their rider Hudson Kennaugh had secretly been working behind their backs with another BSB team. Malcolm was told as he landed at Luton airport after a foreign business trip that he had no rider for this weekend.
Despite MAR giving Hudson a ride at the start of the season, and the best Evo bike (a healthy lead in the championship demonstrates this) we have now confirmed that Hudson has agreed to ride with this rival team with immediate effect. The team is exceptionally distraught at this underhand turn of events, and has no option but to pull out of this weekends racing at Snetterton.
Mike Inkley, team media officer said "Given all of the support and investment put into Hudson and the bike by Malcolm, Craig and the team, this is just a kick in the proverbials. I am one of the team sponsors myself and it is just sickening. Without MAR, Hudson wouldn't even have got a ride at the start of this season, and we had every reason to expect more honesty and respect after we put him in pole position to win the Evo championship. What price loyalty?"
04/07 - Washout at Knockhill, but MAR increase championship lead
Following torrential rain at Knockhill, the meeting was abandoned after only one race. In that first race Hudson was sensibly careful in the appalling conditions and came home 5th. Our main rival Steve Brogan on the BMW came in 7th and so we eeked out another 2 points in the championship lead. A very wet and disappointing weekend was had by all.
03/07 - Second in qualifying at windy Knockhill
After an interesting free pactice day on Friday, we got the bike in reasonable shape ready for qualifying. The team and Hudson acheived a very creditable 2nd just 5 1/100ths of a second behind rival Steve Brogan, and a fantstic result. It will be interesting to see what the weather is like tomorrow as the forecast is not great....
27/06 - ANOTHER WIN and a second at Mallory extends championship lead for MAR Kawasaki
Well, what can we say? Second in Race 1 behind Championship rival Steve Brogan really set up the weekend, but after a stunning ride to take 1st place in race 2, with the BMW failing to finish, MAR take a more respectable 26 point lead away from Mallory Park. With great support from the whole team, a fantastic weekend was had by our guests and our sponsors. It's Knockhill next weekend where we hope to continue our stunning season. Thanks everyone for your support.
26/06 - Sensational Evo Pole at sunbaked Mallory
Sun drenched Mallory Park in Leicestershire was the setting for another milestone in this sensational season for the Evo championship leading MAR team and Hudson Kennaugh. In one of the tightest qualifying sessions this year, Hudson narrowly pipped Steve Brogan on the BMW for pole ahead of even established competitors like Adam Jenkinson and Tom Tunstall. Watch out tomorrow!!
23/05 - Cadwell Park Race 2 - radiators, red flags and another podium place for MAR
Race 2 started after the major panic of a failed radiator. The team pulled out all the stops and managed to get a replacement radiator fitted with only 5 minutes to spare before race 2, but with no time to test it fully. The race started with Hudson slipping back from his main rivals, but after 8 laps the bike settled down, and despite running hot Hudson was able to work back through the field. With every lap he picked up time and on lap 14 we all thought he could comfortably get second. However the fates were against us as the race was red flagged immediately afterwards after a crash involving Dan Linfoot. Oh well, two more podiums and retaining the championship lead can't be a bad weekend. Thanks once again to everyone in the team and our sponsors for a real team effort. See you at Mallory!
23/05 - Cadwell Park Race 1 - 2nd place for MAR
In a dramatic and scorchingly hot race 1 at Cadwell Park, MAR and Hudson produced a wonderful ride to finish second in class despite a radiator problem threatening to overheat at any time. With arch rival Steve Brogan on the BMW making up 7 places before the first corner it was never going to be easy. After slipping back a couple of places on lap 12, Hudson battled his way back through the field to finish second in class. We are naturally delighted and now need to start preparing the bike for race 2.
22/05 4.30pm Cadwell Park Qualifying
We take back everything we said about disappointing free practice. We entered qualifying with high hopes that we had got everything right and boy did we. Qualifying in 16th overall and P1 in the Evo class, MAR had an excellent session ahead of tomorrows 2 races . Obviously everything the team did last night and this morning, together with Hudson's brilliance has worked. Go team, go!!
There used to be a manager here called Malcolm Ashley, but it looks like he isn't needed. Any teams with a vacancy can please contact........
22/05 - Cadwell Park practice
Following a disappointing Friday practice, the team worked late into the night to find the issues. The answer was a stretched chain and worn sprockets. After an early start on the bike at 7.00 am Saturday, the team had it ready for final free practice where Hudson reports a significant improvement. Let's see what happens in qualifying this afternoon.
03/05 5.20 pm - Oulton Dominance - Second Win - Leading the EVO class.
In a second race that was dominated by the weather, Hudson Kennaugh on the MAR produced a stunning top ten finish and a second consecutive win in the British Superbike Evo Championship. Starting from the 5th row of the grid on full wets, Hudson carved his way through the field, and such was his performance that he finished 9th overall, right behind the HM PLant Honda of Josh Brookes. This result puts Hudson and the team at the top of the BSB Evo championship and a double win on the day is the best result in MAR's lengthy history. Just as important, it means that the improvement of the bike is obvious, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our sponsors for their belief in us. Come and say hello at Cadwell.
03/05 2.00 pm - WIN WIN WIN!! MAR and Hudson take the EVO win in Race 1
In an inspired race MAR justified their early season form with a maiden win in the British Superbike Evo Championship, ahead of the vastly better funded works BMW of Steve Brogan. Hudson took an early lead in the class and led to the finish with a stunning winning margin of 10.599 seconds over the BMW in second. Maybe a visit from TV celebrity Nick Knowles earlier in the morning helped.......but anyway, Hudson was inspired and MAR are pleased to keep recent history intact by being the only British Superbike team to put a Kawasaki on the podium. Our guests were royally entertained with both hospitality and a win. WELL DONE BOYS!
02/05 - 2nd in Evo class - Oulton qualifying!!
The boys done good again, the lion was on the hunt and Malcolm's genius with the bike was evident again. With the aid of some pics from the morning practice, Hudson was able to show Malc where there was a slight change he wanted in the suspension, and the backroom boys delivered for qualifying. Go the Grub. We can't wait for tomorrow....
29/04 - Off to Oulton tonight!!
After a disappointing race 1 radiator bullet at Thruxton whilst leading the class, a great recovery saw us on the podium in Race 2. So far 3 podiums out of 4 races. Can we extend this tremendous start to the season? We think so, so come and see us at Oulton over the weekend and race day Monday.
17/04 - Final Free Practice Thruxton - 2nd and getting faster!!
After a somewhat disappointing Friday session where we identified the shock as a weak link, the new shock arrived Friday night and this mornings results are a big improvement. We now sit second in class and are improving by the minute! Right, back to the bike guys. Qualifying next!
05/04 - So the headline says it all AGAIN.
Race 2 of the new season and Hudson takes a sensational second place in the EVO class again, but this time an even better 15th overall to give the team just the start they wanted. When asked how he chased down his EVO competitors in finishing second again, Hudson uttered his now immortal catch phrase...."Have you ever seen a lion hunt?" "Yes" we replied. That quietened him down........ Thruxton next!
05/04 - RACE 1 - PODIUM 1 !! Man and machine in perfect harmony!!
So the headline says it all. Race 1 of the new season and Hudson takes a fantastic second place in the EVO class, and 18th overall to give the team just the start they wanted. When asked how he chased down his EVO competitors in finishing second,Hudson uttered his now immortal catch phrase...."Have you ever seen a lion hunt?". Race 2 next!
04/04 - Qualifying.
We were a little disappointed in qualifying as the bike was still biased towards the damp conditions and the sun came out at the last minute! Still, as this was only our second session in the dry, we aren't too downhearted with progress and look forward to tomorrow!
04/04
In the final free practice session ahead of this afternoons qualifying session, Hudson posted a 51.436 in the tricky wet conditions. This fantastic performance put him 2nd in the Evo class, and 11th overall. We are naturally delighted with this performance. Well done everyone.
02/04 - The Hurricane blows into Brands!!
In a sensational start to the season at a damp Brands Hatch, Hudson posted a fantastic second fastest time in the new Evo category and was sensationally 8th overall, leaving riders such as James Ellison, Yukio Kagayama, Josh Brookes and Chris Walker in his mirrors. Hudson was understandably delighted, and team principal Malcolm Ashley was over the moon. "To be within half a second of 2nd place Tommy Hill is as good as it gets. It might be different in the dry, but we are still developing, with Hudson only having a go on the bike on Wednesday." Roll on the weekend!
